NEXT WEEK, LEVITICUS COMES TO THEATERS
Looking for a horror romance film for pride month this year? If the answer is yes, then this movie is sure to be your favorite. Leviticus will be released in movie theaters on June 19. The story follows two teenage boys named Naim (played by Joe Bird) and Ryan (played by Stacy Clausen), as they try to escape a shapeshifting entity that takes the form of the person they desire. And it's Each other. This LGBTQ+ supernatural horror film is directed by Australian filmmaker Adrian Chiarella, and is inspired by other films such as "It Follows" and "The Witch". The movie received funding from Screen Australia on July 2024 as part of their 2024-25 production slate.
Causeway films helped out to produce it and co-financed it with Samira Productions. Post production was done by VicScreen and Kojo Studio. According to Benjamin Lee of The Guardian, Leviticus is one of the innovated and haunting films, and even praises unsettling blend of tender romance and thrills. In an interview with IndieWire Adrian Chiarella, he stated, "It's been a while since I've seen an Australian film with a queer love story at it's heart open this wide in my own country." The movie had a premiere at the Sundance Film Festival on January 23, 2026 and later in Australia on June 6, 2026 at the 73rd Sydney Film Festival.
Will you be seeing this film when it premieres on June 19th?
CYBER PHANTOM'S MOVIE REVIEWS
Tragedy Girls (2017)
"To make an omelette, you have to kill some ex-boyfriends."
Where do I even start? It's a twist on the whole slasher horror genre. The film follows two girls named Sadie Cunningham and McKayla Hooper who use an online show to post real-life tragedies so they could send a small Midwestern town into a frenzy and cement their legacy as modern horror legends. I didn't know what to think, there are some moments that I didn't enjoy, but overall, it was still fun to watch. Well, one minute I was watching it, the next thing I knew, I was watching it all the way to the end in complete silence. I didn't say a word.
The death scenes however are what I have found them to be enjoyable. I won't give them away so I don't accidentally cause any spoilers. Also, it's comedic in it's own purpose. If there is something about these comedy horror films, is that I would sit down to see if it's good or bad. It's a good film to watch, and I would always sit down at my couch with a bowl full of popcorn and have my phone with me at all times so I could let people know that I'm about to watch this masterpiece. So, do I recommend everybody to watch this film? Preferably, I do with an ice cream sundae and a cherry on top.

THE GIFT BASKET
Kayla's birthday party was coming up. She had planned her party to be outside of her mansion. Streamers are being placed on the gazebo in the backyard, the lights will illuminate the pool with many different shifting colors, and a DJ is coming over to blast some party music. She invited everyone she knows in her very neighborhood, using her email. However, one person wasn't invited, because she didn't trust her. As she checked her list off, she heard the doorbell rang.
"It must be something I ordered." She thought. When she walked to the front door. She saw that there was a gift basket, that was painted blue and green. On it was something that was covered in black wrapping paper. She didn't know what it was, but she didn't want to wait until the party begins. She placed the basket on the counter next to the fridge. When the party began, she chatted with the party guests they invited, danced with everyone, opened some presents, and even saw the pool light up in many different colors.
She opened up her gifts and had cake when the party was about to draw to a close. When the party was over, she waved goodbye to her guests and walked over to the living room. As she sat down, she realized that she forgot to open up her gift basket. She ran over to the kitchen and got it off the counter. As she sat back down on the couch, she tore through the black wrapping paper. When all of the wrapping paper was off, she looked in there. She let out a scream when she saw what was inside. It didn't look like a nice present at all. Inside of the basket, was a dead rat. Watching over the living room window was the party guest that wasn't invited. "Serves you right for not inviting me to your party." She said with a laugh. When she came into her house, she found Kayla, not moving at all. She found out that Kayla died from fright. When she was being driven to the hospital, the uninvited house guest watched. "Maybe my joke went a little bit too far." she said.
